A Cumilla court on Sunday sentenced two people to life imprisonment in a case filed for possessing drugs in 2019.
The lifers are—Joynal Abedin Molla alias Joynal Master, 42, teacher of Cox’s Bazar Teknaf Burmese Government Primary School and, son of Siddique Ahmed and Mobarak Hossain, 25, son of Mozammel Haque of Kutubdia upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

Judge of the Cumilla Additional District and Session Judge Court-5 Jahangir Hossain handed down the punishment.

The court also fined them Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months jail in rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, a team of Cumilla DB police arrested the convicts along with 15,000 pieces of tablets from Sashongachha area in Cumilla district town while heading towards Dhaka by a microbus.

A case was filed in this connection.
Later, police submitted chargesheet against them.
