A 22-year-old youth was beaten to death over trivial matter in Bancharampur upazial on Tuesday.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening at the Ashrafabad Madrasa ground in Asrafabad village of the upazila
The deceased was identified as Jashim Mia (22) of the the same village.
According to locals, Jashi and Imon Mia from the same village were playing cricket at the Ashrafabad Madrasa ground in the Cholimabad Union of Bancharampur Upazila. At one point, an argument erupted between the two, and Imon allegedly struck Jashim with a cricket bat.
Later, Jashim fell to the ground and was critically injured. He was rushed to the Bancharampur Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared him brought dead.
Mohammad Ali, the elder brother of the deceased said, "While playing cricket, Imon suddenly attacked my brother with a cricket bat. When he was seriously injured, we brought him to the hospital, where the doctor informed us that my brother had passed away. I demand justice for this heinous act."
Nurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Bancharampur Model Police Station said, “There was an altercation between the two over cricket. Imon allegedly hit Jashim with a cricket bat, leading to Jashim's death. We are conducting an operation to arrest Imon.
