Three victims of the recent military aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka's Uttara remain in critical condition, with one on life support, according to hospital authorities.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, shared the update at a press conference on Monday.
He said a total of 33 patients are currently receiving treatment at the institute, 27 of whom are children.
Among them, three are in critical condition and are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Another nine patients are in the severe category, while the rest are admitted to various wards with less critical injuries.
Dr. Nasir Uddin added that three patients were initially scheduled for discharge today (Monday), but due to inclement weather and the need for an additional round of dressing, they were kept under observation. Several others are expected to be discharged in phases throughout the week.
He also mentioned that medical specialists from Singapore, China, and India, who arrived to support treatment of the burn victims, have been leaving the country in phases after completing their contributions.
Earlier, Ayan Khan, 12 and Rafsi, 12, were released on Saturday, while Kazi Amjad Sayeed, 20, and Sabuja Begum, 40, were discharged on Sunday.
Tragically, Sahil Farabi Ayan, 14, a 7th-grade student of Milestone School, succumbed to his injuries at 1:45 am on Monday while undergoing treatment.
