Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three prime suspects in connection with the killing of pharmacy owner and bKash agent Khokon Das in Shariatpur.
A RAB team arrested Sohag, Rabbi, and Polash, the Bajitpur area of Kishoreganj, said a statement of Chief Adviser’s press wing on Sunday.
Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Raonak Jahan said before his death the victim had identified the suspects.
Khokon Das, son of Paresh Das, was returning home after closing his business at Kehravanga Bazar around 9:30 pm on December 31, 2025.
As he reached the nearby Tiloi area, 3–4 unidentified assailants attacked him with sharp weapons, injuring him in multiple parts of his body and snatching the cash he was carrying.
As the victim recognised some of the attackers, the assailants poured petrol over Khokon Das’s body and face in an attempt to kill him, it said.
Locals rushed to the scene upon hearing his screams, prompting the attackers to flee.
The victim was later rescued in critical condition by local residents and admitted to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.
Doctors provided initial treatment and due to the seriousness of his condition sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, the statement reads.
Raonak Jahan said the arrested men are known locally as troublemakers and use various drugs.
