River police have arrested four people and recovered 401 pieces of a bulkhead, which was hijacked from Munshiganj's Gajaria.
The arrestees were identified as Shahadat Hossain (24), Saddam Hossain (33), Md. Shafiqul Islam (55), and Nasima (50). They were arrested from Postogola on Friday, said Superintendent of Narayanganj River Police Md Alamgir Hossain on Saturday.
A case was filed at the Gajaria Police Station in Munshiganj regarding the matter, he said.
The operation to arrest the remaining members was ongoing, added the SP.

The bulkhead, weighing 30 metric tonnes, had 411 cut parts, and initially, one person was arrested. Later, based on the information provided by him, three more people were arrested, the river police said.
Earlier, on January 23, the bulkhead named “MB Machiata Darbar Sharif” was hijacked on the way to Sitajganj. Later, it was scattered into pieces and sold.
