A Bogura court on Monday sentenced four former government officers to 15 years of jail each in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) eight years back.
The court of Bogura Special Judge Amlan Kusum Jishnu also fined them Tk 1.5 lakh each; in default they will have to serve nine more months’ jail, said ACC’s special Public Prosecutor SM Abul Kalam Azad.
Moreover, the court ordered the convicts to refund the misappropriated Tk 11.74 crore to the exchequer.

The convicts are Dupchanchia upazila’s former accountant Khalilur Rahman, former cash officers of Sonali Bank’s upazila branch-Abdul Bari, Abdus Salam and Yunus Ali.
According to the case statement, the convicts misappropriated over Tk 11.74 core making fake documents in the name of pensioners in 2015.
The then Bogura ACC Assistant Director Aminul Islam filed a case accusing the four people on September 17, 2015. Later chargesheets were submitted in the case in 2016.

After completing all legal procedures, the court handed down the judgment in presence of all the accused on Monday.
