Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested four alleged drug traders from Nagdarpar bridge area of Khilgaon on Friday night.
Five maunds of hemp, and 184 bottles of Eskuf syrup, a contraband drug like phensedyl, were recovered from their possessions.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Jewel, Md. Humayun, Md. Sadeq and Md. Liton.

Based on secret information, a team of DB (Tejgaon division) conducted the special drive in the adjacent area of Nagdarpar bridge under Khilgaon police station.
The detectives arrested the four drug traders along with the drug consignment from their possession during the drive, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP Iftekhairul Islam.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees revealed that they are professional drug dealers. They used to collect cannabis and cough syrup from the bordering areas of Brahmanbaria district and sell it in different areas of Dhaka city.

They brought the drugs to Dhaka city from Vijayanagar area of Brahmanbaria district in a vegetable pickup van. The DB Tejgaon Division's Illegal Weapons Recovery and Drug Control Team conducted the operation.
A case was filed with Khilgaon police station over the incident.
