Forty-five Bangladeshi nationals who were imprisoned in Myanmar's Rakhine and whose citizenship were verified, returned home on Sunday by Myanmar Naval Ship UMS Chin Dwin.

At the same time, 134 Myanmar Border Guard (BGP) and other members who were forced to cross the border into Bangladesh due to conflict in Rakhine state were sent back to Myanmar.

Myanmar ship UMS Chin Dwin with 45 Bangladeshis departed from Sittwe port on Saturday ( June 8 morning) and arrived at Cox's Bazar and left Bangladesh with 134 Myanmar soldiers and others on Sunday.

This was completed as per the decision of the inter-ministerial meeting organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Representatives of Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon and Bangladesh Consulate, Sittwe were present to coordinate with the local authorities, conduct verification process and issue Travel Permits in favour of the returnees.

Mainul Kabir, director general of the Myanmar sub-division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the director of his wing received the Bangladeshis from the ship.

With the help of the Ministry of Home Affairs, BGB, Coast Guard, district administration, district police and related authorities, immigration, health check-ups, other tasks and repatriation of the Bangladeshis and the Myanmar Army were completed.

This year, arrangements have been made to provide shelter and return to Myanmar's 752 BGP and other members in three phases on humanitarian grounds.

Besides, a total of 218 Bangladeshis were brought back from Myanmar this year.
