Sherpur, Aug 10 (UNB) - A sexagenarian man was arrested from Satani Mathuradi area of Sreebardi municipality on Friday noon for raping a minor girl.
The arrestee is Momin Miah, 60, son of late Azizul Haq of nearby Kalakanda. He used to work at a local restaurant as a worker.
Officer-in-charge of Sreebardi Police Station Md Rezaul Haque said the minor girl, aged around 6, was playing near her house at noon when Momin took her to a nearby deserted house and raped her.
Hearing victim’s screams, locals rescued her but the rapist managed to flee.
Later, agitated people caught him and handed him over to police, the OC said, adding that that Momin confessed to his crime.
