The results, published on Tuesday, showed a 95.5 percent pass rate among PEC candidates. Ebtedayee examinees did slightly better in terms of percentage with a 95.96 percent success rate.
Of the PEC examinees, 326,088 secured GPA-5 while 11,877 Ebtedayee students obtained the highest grade, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain announced at a press briefing at the secretariat.
This year, 2,454,151 students appeared at the PEC and 2,343,743 of them came out successful. The successful candidates include 1,271,589 girls and 1,072,154 boys. Of the GPA-5 achievers, there are 184,637 girls and 141,451 boys.
The Barishal Education Board had the highest pass rate of 96.93 percentage point.
In Ebtedayee examination, 291,875 candidates, out of total 304,178, came out successful. Among them, 11,877 scored GPA-5. The successful candidates include 5,685 boys and 6,192 girls.
The Rajshahi Board secured the top position in terms of pass rate with a 97.81 percent success rate.
The state minister handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban in the morning.
In comparison with the results in 2018, the pass rate fell by 2.09 percent in the PEC examination and the pass rate in Ebtedayee exams has declined by 1.73 percent. There was 97.59 percent pass rate among PEC candidates and 97.69 percent among Ebtedayee last year.
