Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has warned that the distributors of the Bangladesh Awami League leaflets would be arrested, claiming that the contents of those leaflets undermine the law-and-order situation in the country.
“Our strong message to them - who will distribute leaflets - they will be arrested,” he told reporters at the Foreign Service Academy on Monday.
Elaborating further, Alam said the leaflets contain the contents that are supposed to affect and undermine the law-and-order situation in the country.
The Press Secretary said steps will be taken against those who will join such programmes of distributing leaflets. “We are looking into it….we are monitoring.”
The Awami League has been distributing leaflets demanding the resignation of the interim government, withdrawal of cases and other related claims.
Regarding misinformation and rumours, the Press Secretary said they had serious discussion with Facebook (Meta) on rumours.

He said it is a national responsibility of all to fight against misinformation, noting that the Indian media is apparently in a “propaganda war” against Bangladesh.
Highlighting the importance of fact-checking by media outlets in Bangladesh independently, Alam said it helps improve the quality of journalism in addition to serving the nation.
The press secretary said the government is working seriously to ensure that the prices of essentials remain stable and nobody can manipulate the market as the holy month of Ramadan is approaching nearer.
