An Ansar member died from electrocution at Notun Bazar of Sadar upazila on Tuesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Babul Hossain, 50.
Al Amin, former union parishad chairman, said that Babul was electrocuted when a rod in his hand came in contact with a live wire around 12pm during construction work of his house, leaving him dead on the spot.
