The election of 20 executive committee members of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA), an organization of insurance owners, will be held on February 22.

On Tuesday, the last date for nomination paper submission, 35 candidates from life and non-life insurance have submitted nomination papers for the executive committee’s election for the session of 2025-26.

According to the BIA sources, directors and chief executives of 14 insurance companies have nominated 10 members of the organization's life insurance. On the other hand, directors and chief executives of 21 companies have nominated 10 members of the non-life insurance.

The final list will be announced tomorrow (January 22) after the verification of the forms of these candidates.

Earlier, the schedule for the election of members of the BIA's executive committee for 2025-2026 was announced on November 7, 2024. Accordingly, the collection and submission of nomination papers began on January 14.

After the member election on February 22, the election of a president, first vice president, and vice president of the organization will be held on February 24.

According to the rules, one voter from each life and non-life insurance company can be a voter of the organization, subject to payment of subscription. This year, 76 out of the organization's 80 members became voters.

No one from the other 4 companies became voters. It is reported that the term of the organization's 2023-2024 executive committee will end on April 8, 2025.
