The Betagi upazila and municipality unit of BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) held their first rally in 16 years on Monday, marking a significant political event in the region. The peace rally commenced at 3pm, with the formal activities taking place under the leadership of Upazila BNP convener, Md. Humayun Kabir Mallik.
The main guest at the rally was Nurul Islam Moni, Vice Chairman of BNP's Central Executive Committee and former Member of Parliament. Special guests included Barguna district BNP leader Fazlul Haque, former Organizing Secretary Advocate Rezbul Kabir, and the keynote speaker was former Upazila BNP president Shahjahan Kabir.
During his address, Nurul Islam Moni emphasized the importance of electoral reforms, saying, “The Election Commission has been formed, and now it’s crucial to quickly return power to the people. Immediate reforms in the electoral system are needed, and an electoral roadmap should be announced without delay.”
The other guests and leaders from various levels of BNP and its allied organizations also spoke, and the programme was conducted by Golam Sarwar Riyad Khan, secretary of Betagi Upazila BNP.
