The Advisors Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) on Tuesday gave approval of two procurement proposals under the project titled “Modernisation and Capacity Enhancement of BREB’s Electric Distribution System (Dhaka-Mymensingh Division) (Special Revised)”.
The project is being implemented by the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) under the Power Division.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed virtually chaired the meeting that took place at the Secretariat.
According to official sources, the first proposal involves the procurement of SPC (Spun Pre-stressed Concrete) poles. The Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Ltd. (BMTF), located in Joydebpur, Gazipur, has been recommended as the successful bidder. The total cost of the purchase stands at Tk 229.95 crore.
The second proposal pertains to the procurement of SPC poles under the same project and tender package (Lot-3), with a total value of Tk 229.84 crore.
The recommended joint venture comprises Confidence Infrastructure PLC JV, Castle Construction Co. Ltd., Poles and Concrete Ltd., and Royal Green Products Ltd., based in Monem Business District, Dhaka.
The committee reviewed both proposals and recommended their approval to ensure timely implementation of the project, which aims to modernise and strengthen the power distribution infrastructure in Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions.
Officials said the initiative will enhance system reliability, reduce power loss, and improve electricity supply for millions of rural consumers.
