Indian Border Security Guard (BSF) members detained a suspected Bangladeshi smuggler from Panishara area opposite to Patgram border in Lalmonirhat on Tuesday.
The detainee is Khairul Islam, 28, son of Ahir Uddin of Khengti village under Sreerampur union of the Patgram upazila.
Locals said four to five Bangladeshis intruded into the neighbouring country to through Sreerampur border on Tuesday morning.

When they were returning from India with smuggled products the BSF members detained Khairul but his cohorts managed to flee, they said.
Sheikh Mohammad Musahid Masum, commandant of the BGB-61 Battalion in Rangpur, said the youth detained by the BSF was a smuggler.
