A hotel-cum-restaurant staff member was killed when a vehicle hit him at Bata signal of Elephant Road in the city on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Delwar Hossain, 26, an employee of Star Kabab restaurant. He was residing at a mess of SP road in Elephant Road.
Sub-Inspector Rashedul Islam of New Market police station said the incident occurred when he was going to his work place in the morning. Suddenly a vehicle hit him while he was crossing the road near Bata signal and the transport fled the scene leaving Delwar dead on the spot, SI Rashedul said.
Mohsin, an uncle of the victim, said Delwar hailed from village Kamalapur under Sadar upazila in Chandpur district.
