A case has been filed over the murder of an activist of Chhatra League who was shot dead allegedly by his rival group with the organisation in Brahmanbaria town on Wednesday.

The case was filed against 16 named and 10-12 unknown people on Thursday night following the complaint lodged by the victim's father Aminur Rahman at Sadar Model Police Station.

Former VP of Brahmanbaria Government College Jalal Hossain Khoka has been made the main accused while recently expelled Hasan Al-Farabi Joy, vice-president of District Chhatra League unit, who shot the victim in public, was made second accused.

Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Aslam Hossain said on Friday (June 7) morning that the victim's father filed the case as a plaintiff on Thursday night.

“An operation is underway to arrest the accused,” he added.

The other accused in the case are district Chhatra League vice-president Shafi Alam, 28, and his elder brother Sagar, 32, Shahadat Hossain alias Sunny, 28, Apu, 30, Mamun, 38, Masum, 40, Shahriar alias Laden, 22, Rubel, a resident of Collegepara in the city. 28, Oli, 30, Ruman, 35, Taref, 30, Sourav, 30, Mamun, 28, Mursalin, 28.

Relatives of the victim Ayesh Rahman Ijaz said he was a supporter of the district BCL secretary and chairman candidate Shahadat Hossain Shuvon.

When the procession came to the College Para area of the town, Hasan Al Farabi Joy, the vice-president of the District Chhatra League, shot Ijaz in the head on the orders of Jalal Uddin Khoka, a supporter of the horse symbol candidate Md Helal Uddin.

Ijaz was taken to the district Sadar Hospital. Later, when he was taken to Dhaka for better treatment, he died on the way.
