The Chinese Embassy to Bangladesh, in close collaboration with the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), and the University of Dhaka organised the Chinese Tourism Day 2025 celebration at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), University of Dhaka, on Monday.
ATAB, the apex body of over 4,000 travel agents registered under the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh, works for the betterment of travel and tourism in Bangladesh and continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the industry through seminars, workshops, expos, and B2B sessions.
The event was co-chaired by Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, and Abdus Salam Aref, President of ATAB. Dr. Yang Hui, Chinese Director at the Confucius Institute of Dhaka University, attended as a guest, said a media release.
The programme featured vibrant cultural performances showcasing the traditional arts and heritage of China, along with a captivating photo exhibition highlighting the scenic beauty and tourism appeal of Beijing, Guangdong, and Yunnan provinces. Attendees experienced a visual journey through China's diverse landscapes and cultural richness.
Addressing the event, ATAB President Salam emphasised China's excellence in tourism and the importance of deepening tourism collaboration between Bangladesh and China.
He highlighted China’s strong global reputation in hospitality, infrastructure, and cultural preservation, as well as the seamless travel connectivity between the two nations and direct flight connections from Dhaka to major Chinese cities such as Guangzhou, Kunming, Beijing, and Canton, supported by airlines like Biman Bangladesh Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines.
He reiterated that enhanced tourism partnerships, visa facilitation, and joint tourism initiatives will further strengthen bilateral ties.
Salam expressed ATAB’s commitment to working closely with Chinese counterparts to encourage travel between the two countries, fostering greater accessibility for both business and leisure travellers.
This celebration underscores the growing spirit of cooperation between Bangladesh and China, fostering people-to-people connections, particularly among youth and academia.
The event was attended by respected members of ATAB and students of Dhaka University. Representatives from the press and media were also present to cover the event.
