The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh Police on Thursday raided two exchanges which were allegedly involved in illegal transactions in the capital.
The CID also arrested 4 people during the drive over their involvement in illegal money exchanges, said a press release on Friday.
The arrestees are Md Maqbul Hossain,50, son of late Mansur Ali, of Brahmanbaria, Md Masud Alam, 27, son of late Abdul Khalek Biswas of Barishal, MM Zakaria, 56, son of late Haji Md. Yahia Munshi of Noakhali and Md. Jamal Uddin, 54, son of late Kalai Shikdar, of Barishal district.

The Financial Crime Unit of the CID's Organised Crime Division conducted the raids in ‘Chawk Bazar Money Exchange Ltd’ and ‘Bakaul Money Exchange Ltd' situated in the capital’s Sakh Center around 5 pm on Thursday and arrested them, added the release.

During the raid, foreign currencies worth Tk 74 lakh including Bengali currencies were recovered from their possession.
A case was filed at Paltan Model Police Station against six persons including 4 arrestees under Section 23(1) of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947.
