A Chattogram court on Tuesday fixed July 10 for delivering its judgment in a case in connection with the death of 13 people in girder collapse in Bahaddarhat of Chattogram in 2012.
Judge Shariful Alam Bhuiya of Additional Metropolitan and Session Judge Court-4 fixed the date on Tuesday after closing law-point arguments from both the state and defence counsels.
The accused are—Project Manager Gias Uddin, Manjurul Islam, Engineer Abdul Jalil, Aminur Rahman, Abdul Hye, Mosharraf Hossain, Shahjahan Ali and Rafiqul Islam. All of them were former workers of the contractor firm Mir Akhter and Parisa Trade System.
Omar Fuad, bench assistant, said the state recorded depositions of 22 witnesses out of 28.
On November 24, 2012, thirteen people were killed and 50 others injured as three girders collapsed on them during the construction of a flyover in Chattogram port city Bahaddarhat area.
Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) was building the flyover.
On November 26, a case was filed with Chandgaon Police Station.
Some 25 people including three CDA officials were accused in the case.
After examining records and witnesses, the then inspector SM Shahidul Islam submitted a chargesheet against eight people on October 24, 2013, after excluding the names of 12 people including three CDA officials, Managing Director of the contractor firms and Managing Director of the advisory organisations MA Matin.
