As Cyclone Remal looms closer, authorities in Barishal district have declared the waterways and flight services suspended.
Since Sunday morning, along with incessant rainfall, wind speed has surged to 20 nautical miles per hour in Barishal, steadily increasing as the cyclone advances.
The cyclone can hit at any time between Sunday evening and midnight.

Abdul Kuddus, senior observer of Barishal Met office, said that signal 4 has been issued for river ports.
Sirajul Islam, manager of Barishal Airport, said that morning flights have been canceled due to inclement weather conditions. All flight operations have been suspended until weather conditions return to normal.
Abdur Razzak, BIWTA Deputy Director and Barishal River Port Officer, declared the suspension of all water transport services until further notice, emphasizing public safety.
Divisional Health Director Dr. Shyamal Krishna Mandal said some 470-472 medical teams have been formed to provide medical services to the people during and post-cyclone.

Barisal Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam said 541 shelter centres have been prepared in the district where people can take shelter.
Additionally, religious institutions, private multi-storey buildings, offices, and educational institutions can be used as shelters, with collaborative efforts from CPP, Red Crescent, and voluntary organizations.
