A 15-year-old girl, Ishrat Zahan Eeti, a tenth-grader student, has served as the deputy commissioner of Kurigram for a day, taking charge of the district on the occasion of International Day of Girl Child on October 11.
Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Rezaul Karim handed over the charges to Eti, daughter of Yunus Ali of Harikesh village in Kurigram municipality, on Monday morning.
The takeover is a part of the global #GirlsTakeover, a signature activity of Plan International

Every year, the international development organisation rolls on this activity all over the world, including Bangladesh, marking the International Day of Girls on 11 October under its Girls Get Equal campaign calling for increased investment in girls’ power, activism and leadership.
A private organization, Yes Bangladesh, organized the programme with the help of Aporajeo Bangladesh, Youth for change and local administration.
After taking charge, Eti made a proposal saying to take effective steps in preventing child marriage and child torture in the district.
Following her request, the deputy commissioner assured Eti of taking steps to implement the issue.
