Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Bank Emranul Haque died early Sunday. He was 61.
Haque, was had been suffering from cancer, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital in Kolkata. An official of the bank confirmed the death.
He worked in the banking sector for more than three decades at home and abroad. The experienced banker started his career as a management trainee at Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) in 1986.
He held various positions in Eastern Bank Limited and Credit Africa Bank Limited, Zambia before joining Dhaka Bank Limited in 1998.
During his long journey with Dhaka Bank, he served as the manager of various important branches and the Deputy Managing Director.
He was a Certified Corporate Banker and a fellow of the American Academy of Financial Management. Apart from this, he was the standing committee member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on banking techniques and practices.
