The Dhaka district administration recovered an area of 30 decimals belonging to the Sri Sri Lakshmi Narayan Jiu Mandir in Motijheel of the capital.
Motijheel Revenue Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mahamudul Hasan conducted the drive on Saturday morning.
The drive started at 9:15am and continued till 3pm.
According to sources, in continuation of the RS records, the latest city records are in the name of Sri Sri Lakshmi Narayan Jiu Thakur, Managing Service Sujit Kumar Basu, Father Sachindra Nath Basu, of No. 3, Harish Chandra Babu Street, in Dhaka's Bangla Bazar.
“Due to the non-maintenance of the servicemen, some unscrupulous traders have been occupying the property for a long time by setting up illegal establishments and shops.”
Magistrate Mahamudul Hasan said that some local influentials in the capital's Motijheel area had been illegally occupying 30 percent of the property worth about Tk 200 crore for a long time.
“Under the direction of the Dhaka District Commissioner today, those structures were evacuated and the property was recovered,” he added.
