The Dhaka University unit of Jamaat-e-Islami’s female student wing, Chhatri Sangstha, on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan demanding solutions to various problems the female students face on the campus.
A delegation from the organisation led by its university unit president Sabikun Nahar Tamanna and secretary Mosammat Afsana Akter submitted the demands to the VC at his office.
The demands include ensuring the safety of female students, availability of hygienic and nutritious food, construction of adequate common rooms, prayer rooms and ablution facilities, providing support during maternity, resolving the accommodation crisis, allowing non-residential students to enter halls in case of emergency, taking effective measures to prevent sexual harassment and providing hall-based medical services.
Additionally, the Chhatri Sangstha put forward their many issues to the VC who assured them of considering those.

Sabikun said, “Due to oppression and persecution under the fascist government, it was not possible to conduct organisational activities on the campus for a long time. However, following the central directive after August 5, we have resumed work. Alhamdulillah, during this time it has been possible to form the initial structure. InshAllah, we will continue effective organisational activities along with the students.”
Following the fall of the Awami League government last year the Jamaat’s female student wing became vibrant to woo students through their activities on the campus.
They have been vocal on different issues, including healthcare services and accommodation.
