The government on Tuesday granted policy-level approvals for several important initiatives spanning citizen services, healthcare, and heritage infrastructure, according to decisions taken by the Economic Affairs Committee.
The approval came from the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs meeting held today. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed virtually presided over the meeting.
In a move aimed at improving service delivery at district and departmental levels, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has received approval to implement citizen service activities through the Direct Procurement Method (DPM).
The Committee recommended the proposal for policy-level approval, subject to certain conditions, to streamline administrative operations and ensure efficient public service access.
The Ministry of Health Services has been granted policy approval for the uninterrupted supply of GeneXpert Cartridges, critical for the detection of new tuberculosis patients under the National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) until June 2026.

The Economic Affairs Committee endorsed the proposal, recognizing the importance of sustaining early detection and treatment of tuberculosis nationwide.
The Committee also recommended policy approval for construction works related to the ‘July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum’ under the delegated works program of the Public Works Department.
The construction work will be implemented following the Open Tender Method (OTM), ensuring transparency in procurement.
Similarly, the electrical and mechanical aspects of the museum construction will proceed under the OTM process.
