A case has been filed against 76 individuals, including former MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif and several other prominent figures, in connection with the killing of Yusuf Sheikh. The case also named an additional 20 to 30 unidentified persons.
Yusuf Sheikh (65) was shot dead during the anti-discrimination student protest in Kushtia. His daughter, Seema, filed the case today at the Kushtia Model Police Station, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque Chowdhury of the police station, confirmed the matter.
The victim's daughter Seema mentioned in the FIR that on August 5, around 3:30 PM, during the anti-discrimination movement and non-cooperation movement, her father Yusuf Sheikh was on his way home from his workplace. When he reached inside Noor Tailors Lane in front of the Fire Service Office in Kushtia town, the named accused saw him and chased him. Following this, under the instructions of Hanif and his cousin Ata, the accused shot and killed him.
The OC said thatoperation to arrest the accused in the case is ongoing.
Previously, in a case filed regarding the death of a teenager named Abdullah during the anti-discrimination student movement in Kushtia on Thursday night, Mahbubul Alam Hanif has been made the primary accuse.
