Clash over khas land in Kurigram leaves one dead, five injured
The confrontation was sparked by a long-standing dispute over dominance between two local figures, Omar Matubbar and Wahab Bhuiyan.
The altercation began after a scuffle broke out during a Waz Mahfil in Tujarpur Bazar on Saturday night involving Emon Bhuiyan, a supporter of Wahab, and Omar Matubbar's associates, Manik and Tamim.
A dispute quickly escalated into a full-scale clash on Monday, with both sides wielding country-made weapons.
The violence led to the looting and vandalism of 25 homes in the village.
The injured were quickly rushed to local hospitals, with some being admitted to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex and others to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and managed to bring the situation under control, said the OC.
