Bay Leasing & Investment Limited has made Fatema Zahir Majumder as the chairman of its board of directors.
She was made chairman of the company's 222nd board meeting, held on Tuesday (September 2).
Her name was proposed by independent director Abul Kashem and was unanimously approved by the board. She will serve for the upcoming term.
Fatema Zahir Majumder has a long-standing relationship with the company, having previously served on both the board of directors and the audit committee with distinction. Beyond her corporate contributions, she is recognized as a prominent woman entrepreneur involved in various organizations both in Bangladesh and internationally.
She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English language and literature and has also studied law. Fatema is also a social worker and has held leadership roles in several institutions, including Gulshan Ladies Club, Language Proficiency Center, Tiger Tours Ltd, and Blue Fly Academy.
She also has nearly two decades of experience as a teacher of communicative English and serves as an English language instructor trainer at the American Center in Dhaka.
Her appointment is expected to bring renewed leadership to the company, leveraging her extensive experience in corporate governance, social work, and entrepreneurship, according to a press release.
