Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route on the Padma River in Manikganj district resumed on Wednesday after an hour-long disruption caused by inclement weather.
Ferry movement on the route remained halted from 7:00am to 8:00am.
Abdus Salam, deputy general manager of BIWTC’s Aricha region, said a nor’wester hit the ghat area around 7:00am, prompting authorities to suspend ferry operations to avoid any untoward incidents.
During the suspension, ferries were kept anchored at the ghats while passengers remained onboard.
Ferry movement returned to normal from 8:00am after the weather improved.
The BIWTC official also said that 18 small and large ferries are currently operating on the Paturia-Daulatdia route to transport passengers and vehicles.
