In a condolence message, Dr. Momen said Marium Chowdhury played an active role with her husband in mobilizing opinion in support of the Liberation War in 1971.
The Foreign Minister prayed for the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Marium Chowdhury, who was suffering from cancer, breathed her last in New York on Sunday morning.

Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury served as the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York in 1996.
He was appointed in March 2002 by the Secretary-General of the United Nations as Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.
