He has already started mass contact in the area and is waiting for the green signal from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the President of the ruling Awami League.
Shabana, 67, the National Film Award-winning actress, along with her husband took part in a rally at Borenga village of Keshabpur upazila on Tuesday.
Addressing the rally, Shabana said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had previously asked me to be a candidate for Awami League but I want to spend my time with my children.”
“Keshabpur is the area of my in-laws. If anyone is to be candidate from here he should be my husband. I’m seeking your support for him,” she said.
Wahid Sadik said Keshabpur is his birthplace and he always feels the urge to do something for its development. “So, I’m seeking your opinions. I’ll start the campaign for getting the nomination if you support me,” he said addressing the gathering.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Awami League MP and former State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique. She died on January 21 last.
