The mayor confirmed it in a conference call with journalists after attending a discussion programme over “Coronavirus conditions and measures” at the GCC office in Gasa area.
The kits will be brought in special cargo flight if necessary, he said.
Besides, a total of 63 committees were formed based on wards of GCC to tackle the present crisis situation, Alam added.
The committees would jointly implement the decisions taken by the Health Ministry in this regard, he said.
“We want to overcome the situation with the joint efforts of all classes of people. We’re ready to stand beside the city dwellers with all means for providing their health security and awareness,” Alam stated.
Mentioning that around 22 lakh garment workers are residing in the city area, he asked the garment owners to allow leave to the sick workers so they can remain at home.
“Garment owners and City Corporation would provide financial help to the sick workers who would be staying in home-quarantine.” he said.
Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Md Anowar Hossain, GCC Chief Executive Officer Aminul Islam and District’s Civil Surgeon Md Khairuzzamn were also present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, three more people have been diagnosed with coronavirus, taking the number of cases to 27 in the country.
The number of globally confirmed coronavirus cases was hovering close to 316,000, with the number killed at 13,597 as of Sunday, according to the Johns Hopkins University Covid-19 hub.
