Police arrested another accused in connection with the gang rape of a 19-year-old girl in a Chattogram-bound train on Thursday.
The accused, Abdur Rab Russel, was arrested from Kutubpur area in Noakhali district.
SM Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Railway Police Station, said a team of police conducted a drive in Kutubpur and arrested Russel around 4:30 am.
With this, four people have so far been arrested in this connection.
Teen gang-raped on moving train, 3 arrested
The victim filed the case against four people with Railway Police Station on Wednesday night.
All the accused were staffers of SA Corporation that used to supply food to Paharika-Udayan Express train.
Among them, Jamal, Sharif and Rashedul were arrested on Wednesday and police sought a seven-day remand for them.
Meanwhile, the girl is now undergoing treatment at the One-stop Crisis Centre of Chattogram Medical College and Hospital.
The Paharika-Udayan Express authorities suspended all activities with SA Corporation following the incident.
Two prime accused arrested over gang-rape of woman in Kurigram
According to the case statement, the 19-year-old girl boarded the Chattogram-bound ‘Udoyon Express’ train from Sylhet on Tuesday night.
She boarded the train from Bhairab and was staying at the food compartment of the train.
She was allegedly raped by four staff of SA Corporation when the train was crossing the Laksham area.
