The Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) on Tuesday gave approval of a number of procurement proposals including several fertiliser import deals and infrastructure development projects under various ministries.
The meeting held at the Secretariat was chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.
Under the Local Government Division, a proposal from Dhaka WASA for the Dhaka Water Supply Network Improvement Project was approved at the meeting.
The package titled ICB-01.13: Supply of HDPE Pipes & Fittings (Remaining supply of ICB-02.12) involves a variation of Tk 12.08 crore, 34.58 percent higher than the original contract value of Tk 34.95 crore , raising the total cost to Tk 47.04 crore.
The proposal was recommended in favour of RFL Plastics Ltd.
Under the Power Division, two proposals from the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for the project Modernisation and Capacity Enhancement of Electrical Distribution System under Dhaka–Mymensingh Division (Special Revision) were approved.
The first package (Lot-1) for the construction of 10 new 33/11 KV (1X10/14 MVA) AIS substations, including land development and civil works, was approved at Tk 128.09 crore.
The second package (Lot-2) for similar works was approved at Tk 127.63 crore.
Both contracts were awarded to Ideal Electrical Enterprise Ltd at Rupayan Trade Center.
The committee also approved a proposal from the ICT Division under the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) for the project Digital Government and Economy Strengthening (EDGE). The contract, worth Tk 51.85 crore, was recommended in favour of Spectrum Engineering Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd for Supply, Installation and Commissioning for Expansion of Existing Private Cloud Platform (DC & DR) in National Data Center.
In the agriculture and industry sectors, the committee approved of several fertiliser import proposals under state-level agreements.
Under the Ministry of Industries, approval was given to import 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertiliser from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia at a cost of Tk 159.99 crore — equivalent to USD 435 per metric ton.
Under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will import: 4th, 5th and 6th lots of 40,000 metric tons each of DAP fertilizer from Banyan International Trading Limited, China at Tk 376.38 crore per lot (USD 768.75 per ton), 10th lot of 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertiliser from MA’ADEN, Saudi Arabia at Tk 383.84 crore (USD 784 per ton); and the 8th lot of 40,000 metric tons of MOP fertiliser from Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), Canada at Tk 174.42 crore (USD 356.25 per ton).
