The government will amend its grant policy for short and full-length film production to enhance the quality of films produced with state support, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam said on Wednesday.
He made the remarks at a view-sharing meeting on the proposed amendments to the Government Grant Policy for Short and Full-Length Film Production, 2025, held at the Tattho Bhaban in Dhaka.
Mahfuj Alam said that films selected for government grants in the last fiscal year were chosen with maximum transparency under existing policies.
He urged filmmakers to ensure quality in productions receiving government funding.

The adviser mentioned that the ministry has already taken several initiatives to improve the standard of grant-funded films and called on industry stakeholders to submit written suggestions on areas that require amendment in the current policy.
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana, Additional Secretary Nur Md. Mahbubul Haque, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani, Bangladesh Film Certification Board Vice-Chairman SM Abdur Rahman, as well as film directors, producers, actors, and other industry representatives, were also present.
