A delegation of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems met Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal to discuss about different parliamentary activities, including the use of Italian software to introduce e-parliament.
The three-member IFES delegation—Jhon Joseph Lis (US), Nanad Marinkovic (Serbian) and Maria Chowdhury—held the meeting with the Deputy Speaker at his office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
During the meeting, they discussed different aspects of parliamentary activities, including launching fundamental research-based projects, parliamentary culture and practices and the use of Italian software for introducing an e-Parliament system.
The discussions also covered legislative and administrative functions, the number of parliamentary committees, enhancing committee activities and making parliament more accountable.
Besides, budget allocation for the legislature, the activities of the Public Accounts Committee and the practice of opposition walkouts were discussed, said a press release.
Responding to various queries from the delegation, the Deputy Speaker shared his plans and views regarding the functioning of the Parliament.

He expressed his commitment to making the parliament more effective and dynamic as the centre of proper democratic practice.
Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Kaniz Moula was also present during the meeting.
