Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, who is in Marrakech attending the OIC Youth Capital International Program, has called upon member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to stand united against the rising tide of Islamophobia.
The event, jointly organised by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) and Morocco's Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, brings together youth leaders and government representatives from OIC member states. Asif Mahmud joined the opening ceremony on Monday.
On the sidelines of the event, the Advisor held a bilateral meeting with ICYF President Taha Ayhan. During the discussion, he highlighted the pivotal role played by Bangladeshi youth during the July Uprising and underscored the government’s ongoing commitment to youth development, including efforts to create quality training and employment opportunities at home and abroad.
Asif Mahmud also formally invited youth from all OIC countries to participate in the upcoming Global Youth Summit, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh this September.
In addition to urging unity against Islamophobia, the Advisor reiterated Bangladesh’s steadfast support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
ICYF President Taha Ayhan praised Bangladesh’s youth development initiatives under the Advisor’s leadership andexpressed appreciation for the country’s growing partnership with ICYF. He also invited Mr. Bhuyain to visit the ICYF headquarters in Istanbul.
Following his engagements in Morocco, the Youth and Sports Advisor is expected to travel to Istanbul, Türkiye, where he will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Ethnosports Confederation and attend other key bilateral meetings.
