The International Crime Tribunal on Monday sentenced three persons of Nakla upazila in Sherpur district, to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal led by its chairman Shahinur Islam handed down the punishment.
The lifers are—AKM Akram Hossain, SM Aminuzzaman Faruk and Mokhlesur Rahman alias Tara of Nakla upazila in Sherpur.

State prosecutor Rezia Sultana, said the court kept the verdict pending after closing the law point arguments on January 24.
According to the prosecution, various allegations, including mass killing, abduction, torture, and arson attack on houses, were brought against them which were proved in the tribunal.
They committed the crime in Ramerkandi Bibirchar and Majid Bari village in Nakla upazila during the Liberation War.

The investigation against the trio started on November 15, 2019.
Warrants for the arrest of four war crimes suspects were issued on August 16, 2022.
On July 26, 2017, the investigating officer submitted the report. On October 30, that year, the prosecution submitted the chargesheet.
The tribunal framed the charges against them on August 30, 2018.
On January 2, 2019, Md Emdadul Haque alias Khaza, an accused, died on bail.
