Election Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman has said whether BNP participates in the 12th parliamentary election or not is solely their decision.
"It's natural for everyone to participate in the participatory election. The Chief Election Commissioner has mentioned that there's still an opportunity for BNP to participate in the election. If they decide to join, the election can be rescheduled," said the EC official.

Election Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman made the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with the top administrative officials of Cox's Bazar district administration on Tuesday (November 28) afternoon.
"No constituency is being taken lightly. Every constituency is important. It doesn't take long for things to get worse. So there will be a lot of preparation,” the election commissioner said regarding the security and other arrangements surrounding the 12th parliamentary election.

BGB Cox's Bazar Region Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Morshed Alam, Chattogram Division Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam, Bandarban Hill District Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Shah Mojaheed Uddin, Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police Mahfuzul Islam, Bandarban Hill District Police Saikat Shahih, Assistant Returning Officer of Cox's Bazar and Bandarban, other election-related government officials including officer-in-charges of all police stations in the region were also present on the occasion.
