The government has extended tenure of Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary as Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
He has been reappointed on a contractual basis as Bangladesh Ambassador to the KSA for 18 months effective from February 3.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.
Javed Patwary assumed the charge of Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 22 August 2020.
Prior to this Ambassadorial assignment, he retired as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh.

He served in Bangladesh Police for 35 (thirty-five) years and graduated from the University of Dhaka with Bachelor’s and Masters’ degree in social welfare.
He also earned his Post Graduate Certificate in “Criminal Justice and Police Management” from the University of Leicester, UK and a Ph.D. on “Combating Terrorism in Bangladesh: Challenges and Prospects” from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka.
In addition, he is a graduate of FBI National Academy, Virginia, USA, and attended the International Commanders Programme at Police Staff College, Bramshill, the UK and the Crisis Management Program in the University of Maryland, the USA.
