JCI Dhaka Heritage has launched "ALOK," a pilot project bringing sustainable solar energy to a financially challenged Madrasah that also serves as an orphanage.
This initiative addresses Bangladesh’s rural energy crisis by installing 1.1 kW solar panels, currently powering one-fourth of the school while reducing monthly electricity costs by Tk 3000–3,500, according to a press release.
The project's vision is to achieve full energy independence, use savings to fund student tuition, and create a replicable model for other institutions.
Beyond immediate benefits, ALOK aligns with global sustainability efforts, contributing to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
JCI Dhaka Heritage remains committed to fostering education, sustainability, and community empowerment through innovative initiatives like ALOK, paving the way for a greener, self-sufficient future.
