Weekly Jum’a prayer offered on Fridays has a special significance to Muslims. Unlike other times, the crowd was thin at the national mosque. Hundreds of Muslim offered prayer at Baitul Mukarram today maintaining physical distance and prayed to Allah for mercy and deliverance from the global crisis.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18. As the number of cases increased, the government restricted the number of people who can offer prayers in congregation.

After about a month, the government lifted restrictions but imposed conditions that safe distance and proper hygiene have to be maintained while offering prayers at mosques. The floors of the mosques were disinfected before the prayer and the devotees entered the mosque after sanitising their hands.
