The company’s Managing Director Khaiz Ahmed Mazumder made the announcement Thursday.
Karnaphuli Gas is responsible for natural gas distribution in the greater Chattogram region having 60,000 pre-paid household consumers among its total consumer of 512,000.
Khaiz said that the recharge vendors will work during the holidays.
Earlier, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company raised the emergency balance of pre-paid household consumers to Tk 2,000 from existing Tk 200 during this government-declared holiday, said Ali Mohammad Al Mamun, its managing director.
Normally, a Titas Gas pre-paid consumer receives gas of Tk 200 as emergency balance to continue gas flow in case of running out of current balance. “But now the pre-paid consumers will get gas of Tk 2,000 as emergency balance”, Mamun told UNB.
He said Tk 2,000 equivalent gas means a four-month equivalent gas as normally a consumer uses gas of maximum Tk 500 a month.
