Khulna Divisional Commissioner Firoz Sarkar has initiated a transparent and corruption-free system for posting Assistant Commissioners (Land) and surveyors for the first time in the country.
A fair lottery-based selection process has been introduced in the division instead of the long-practiced malpractice of trading lucrative upazila postings.
The postings were conducted in the presence of civil society members, citizen representatives, and journalist leaders to ensure full transparency.
According to government rules, officers were not posted in their home districts or, if married, in their in-laws’ districts.

The names of 21 upazilas in Khulna were placed in a box, and eligible officers drew lots to determine their postings.
This initiative, hailed as a new milestone, breaks the previous cycle of corruption and sets an example of integrity in public administration.
