Khulna will take part in the nationwide ‘Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025’ under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) on October 12, aiming to protect children from typhoid fever across the country.
In Khulna division, health authorities have set a target to vaccinate 4,259,378 children at schools and community centres, said Dr Mujibur Rahman, divisional director of Health Department, while talking to UNB.
He urged parents and teachers to encourage children to come to vaccination centers on the scheduled dates to receive the shots.
The campaign in Khulna’s 10 districts will cover 32,000 educational institutions and community-level centers. It will be conducted in two phases— from October 12 to 20, and from November 1 to 13. So far, around 11 lakh children in the division have been registered online.
Children aged nine months to under 15 years outside schools as well as pre-primary to ninth grade students will be given a single dose of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV). Parents must provide their child’s 17-digit birth registration number for online registration.
Health officials said civil surgeons, government and private sector representatives, teachers, and religious leaders across the division have already been informed and involved in the campaign.
