The Detective Branch (DB) has detained 11 more leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organisations including Kotalipara municipility’s former mayor Md Kamal Hossain Shiekh in connection with recent sudden protests across the capital.
According to DB sources, Mobasher Rahman was picked up from Jatrabari around 8:55pm on Wednesday while Md Azad Hossain was detained from Shantinagar early Thursday by separate teams from the DB-Wari division.
Ex-mayor of Kotalipara Md Kamal Hossain Sheikh was detained from the Vasantek area by the DB-Tejgaon division.
Asadullah Shiplu , Vice-President of Ward 33 Awami Jubo League, Banshal Thana, Shakil Ahmed, Vice-President of Ward 8 Awami League, Md Habibur Rahman Habib , Member of Ward 8 Awami League, Aslam Chowdhury Emon , Assistant Secretary, Dhaka North Chhatra League, Mobasher Rahman , Awami League leader and financier, Jatrabari Thana, Md Ruhul Amin, Joint General Secretary were among the detainees.
The detainees were involved in organising flash protests across the city to destabilise the country, said DC media of DMP Md Talebur Rahman.
Legal proceedings against the detainees are currently underway.
