Police arrested an alleged listed criminal and drug trader from the capital’s Banani area early Thursday.
They also recovered a foreign-made pistol, yaba tablets and cash from his possession.
The arrestee was identified as Zahidul Islam, 31.
Quotung Banani Police Station sources, DMP's DC (Media) NM Nasiruddin said that based on secret information, a team of Banani Police conducted a raid at a building in the Mohakhali TB Gate area behind BRAC University around 2:20am on early Thursday.

During the drive, police arrested Zahidul Islam and recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine loaded with three rounds of bullets, a pistol-like object, 2,150 yaba tablets, Tk 71,020 believed to be proceeds from drug sales, and three mobile phones.
Police sources said Zahidul Islam is a listed criminal and an alleged top drug trader. Different law enforcement units, including Rapid Action Battalion and Detective Branch police, had long been trying to trace and arrest him over allegations of involvement in various criminal activities, including murder.
He has multiple cases filed against him with different police stations, the sources added.
A case was filed against the arrestee with Banani Police Station under the Arms and Narcotics Control Acts.
