Prominent Sufi spiritual figure Alhaj Shah Sufi Dr Syed Didarul Haque Maizbhandari of Chattogram’s Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif passed away early Wednesday after a prolonged illness.
Dr Didarul was the younger brother of renowned Sufi Shahanshah Hazrat Syed Ziaul Haque Maizbhandari.
He served as the Sajjadanashin of Gausia Ahmadia Manzil and was also a key organiser during the Liberation War.
His namaz-e-janaza was held after Esha prayers at the Shahi Maidan of Maizbhandar Sharif.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury expressed deep sorrow over his demise.

In a condolence message, he said Dr Didarul was not only a preacher of the Maizbhandari spiritual path but also a committed advocate for human welfare.
“He dedicated his life to guiding people toward light and helping those in distress with utmost sincerity,” he added, praying for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family.
